Frequently Asked Questions

How VOTARO works — voting, listings, featured slots, and the rules of the board. Can't find your answer? Email us.

  1. What is VOTARO?

VOTARO is a community-ranked leaderboard for the best new applications, apps, and websites. Builders submit a project for a free listing, and the community votes to decide what climbs the rankings.

  2. How does voting work?

You can cast up to 10 votes per hour, with a maximum of one vote per card per hour. Votes are capped this way so the board reflects real, ongoing community interest rather than a one-time popularity spike. You don't need an account — voting works straight from your browser.

  3. How are applications ranked?

Rankings are all-time and purely vote-based: the item with the most accumulated votes ranks first. Votes never reset, so every application gets a fair shot and the community decides what rises to the top.

  4. Is it free to list my application?

Yes. Listing is completely free — there is no cost to submit and no paid tier required to appear on the board. Featured slots are also free to claim.

  5. How do I submit my app or website?

Go to the Free Listing page and drop in your URL. The name, description, and favicon are pulled from your site automatically, and you can optionally pick a category. After submission, your listing goes live on the board and anyone can start voting for it.

  6. Can I edit or update my listing after submitting?

Listings are managed by the VOTARO team. If your app's name, URL, or description changes, contact us at hello@darinor.com and we'll update it for you.

  7. What is the Spotlight?

The Spotlight is a highlighted card at the top of the board. It rotates to a different application every 6 hours, giving featured apps extra visibility.

  8. What are Featured Slots?

Featured Slots are premium placements on the leaderboard: your card sits in the side rails on desktop and right after the top 3 on mobile, with a direct link to your site. They're free to claim, run for exactly one week after approval, and are approved by the VOTARO team before going live.

  9. How are votes protected against bots and abuse?

VOTARO uses Cloudflare Turnstile to confirm you're human, rate limits submissions and votes per device and IP, and enforces the one-vote-per-card-per-hour rule server-side. Votes we reasonably believe to be fraudulent or automated may be removed.

  10. What kind of content is allowed on VOTARO?

VOTARO is a general-purpose leaderboard, but NSFW, nudity, and pornographic content are strictly prohibited and will be removed immediately. Anything illegal or infringing is also banned.

  11. Do I need an account to vote or submit?

No. VOTARO works without accounts — submissions and votes are tied to your device and IP for anti-abuse purposes, not to a login.

  12. How do I contact the VOTARO team?

Email hello@darinor.com for support, listing updates, or moderation requests.
